What to expect

Welcome! We are pleased you have chosen us as you consider plastic surgery. We believe you will discover your visit will be an enjoyable experience. Every member of our medical and support team - surgeon, anesthesiologists, nursing personnel and administrative staff want to help you gather the information you need to make the best possible decision for yourself. Our professional nursing team has a combined 50 years of working with Dr. Fernandez. This team of dedicated staff will provide continuity of medical care for you from the time of consultation through your recovery. Our staff is dedicated to helping you feel at ease and to take good care of you.

Meet our staff

Dawn O’Laskey, our Head Nurse, has worked with Dr. Fernandez since 1990.
Peggy Derington, a Certified Surgical Technician, have both assisted Dr. Fernandez since 1986. This adds up to 50 years of caring, dedicated, and experienced teamwork.

Registration

When you call to schedule an appointment we will send you confirmation of the date and time of your appointment. We will include a patient medical history form that will assist us in caring for you. We request that you complete the patient medical history form prior to your visit. If desired, the forms can be downloaded from this web site and faxed to our office when completed (Fax: 941-792-5139). This optimizes your time while in our office and helps us remain on schedule. If you have any questions, please bring them to our attention so that we may assist you.

Consultation with Dr. Fernandez

Your consultation will consist of meeting our staff, becoming familiar with our office and having a 45 minute consultation with Dr. Fernandez and his nurse. He will discuss with you your desires and concerns in a private, comfortable setting. An examination usually precedes his formulating a professional opinion as to how to best achieve your goals. We want you to be well-informed about the actual process of preparing for surgery. Should it be necessary to have subsequent consultation to further discuss your treatment options, one will be offered to you on a complimentary basis.

Cost/Timing of Your Surgery

After your consultation, you will meet with our Patient Coordinator. She will discuss the financial aspects of your treatment with you. If you have a specific date in mind, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. If you are still in the information-gathering phase, we will assist you with that process as well.

Preparing For Your Surgery

After scheduling your surgery, you will have a pre-operative visit with our Head Nurse. She will review with you a surgery preparation and recovery instruction manual that will have been customized for you.
