Perception of the Injection: ASPS Survey Reveals Women Confused but Drawn to Facial Injectables
Arlington Heights, Ill. – Despite their apparent confusion about what facial injectables do, most women say they favor injectables over surgical options, according to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive® for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released today. Nearly two-thirds (63%) of the respondents agreed that they would “much rather” have a facial injectable treatment than a surgical one.

Study Confirms Adoption of Healthy Diet and Exercise Key to Successful Outcome
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Patients are weighing in on liposuction, the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedure in 2005, and resoundingly saying they would have the procedure again. According to a study in May’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), 80 percent of patients were satisfied with their results and 86 percent would recommend the procedure to family or friends.

Body Contouring With Lipoplasty
(August 25, 2006). Liposuction, or Lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure involving the permanent removal of unwanted fat (commonly 0.5 - 5 liters) using a variety of evolving medical techniques. The first paper to be presented on suction surgery in the United States took place at the 1980 Aesthetic Society Annual Meeting.

Surgeon Lauded
A continuing goal of the Florida Legislature is patient safety. However, these goals are sometimes difficult to accomplish because of different interests with different views. This year, because of the continued dedication and leadership of a local plastic surgeon, Dr. Enrique Fernandez and the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well a s the support of Sen. Mike Bennett, the Legislature was able to pass HB 587, known as the Truth in Medical Education (TIME) bill.
